Halloween may be only one day a year for most people, but for some of us, not only is it every night of the year, but we like to think one can never be too thin, too rich, or too witchy. So to keep the spirit of the witch alive outside of the season, here are some tunes to get you in the mood for magic and maybe a little mischief.

#10 “Witches” – Switchblade Symphony

I swear this song makes an appearance on every “goth” compilation ever made, plus most of the Halloween ones, as well. Spooky in a  quirky way.

#9 “Love Potion #9” – The Searchers

Classic rock song covered by a million artists, but have to go with The Searchers version of this one.

#8 “Virgin Witch” – Rob Zombie

You’re bound to find some kind of witchy homage in the Rob Zombie discography, and in fact, this is one of two, with the other being “American Witch.”

#7 “The Witch” – The Cult

Perhaps the hippest witch of the lot, The Cult gave their witch an irresistible beat and a little punchy guitar. She’s got what you need, indeed.

#6 “Black Magic Woman” – Santana

The sultriest witch in lot, hands down. Ricky Martin made reference to some witchy ways in his hit “Livin’ La Vida Loca,” but this is the penultimate Latin lady of magic.

#5 “Wicked Old Witch” – John Fogerty

You can almost see an old shack out in the swamps when you hear this one. “Everybody ‘fraid of the wicked old witch.” Love it!

#4 “Season of the Witch” – Donovan

The go-to song for every movie and TV show that has a witch in it. Played out, but there’s no denying it’s a classic and must have on any witch list.

#3 “Dark Lady” – Cher

You’re probably either saying, “No way!” Or, “What song is this?” A blast from Cher’s past, the sinister feel of this track is awesome. I dare you to listen to it and not get it stuck in your head all day. Double dare you.

#2 “Witchy Woman” – The Eagles

This creepy little witch song is so visual I remember making a drawing about it when I was younger. And by younger, we’re talking crayons here.

#1: “Rhiannon” – Stevie Nicks, er, Fleetwood Mac

DUH. Don’t even argue this one with me, because I have one word for you: Stevie. Aka THE Goddess, the High Priestess of Rock, the witchy woman herself. To this day, I and a slew of women of my generation have a fetish for black chiffon and crystal balls thanks to Ms. Nicks.
