New full trailer for Rob Zombie’s ‘Lords of Salem’ released

New full trailer for Rob Zombie’s ‘Lords of Salem’ released

You might think twice about having tea with the ladies of Salem.

Musician and horror director Rob Zombie released the second horror trailer for his upcoming film, “The Lords of Salem,” Monday. The film once again stars his wife, Sheri Moon Zombie as Heidi, a radio station DJ who receives a strange wooden box that contains a record labelled a “gift from the Lords.”

Naturally, she presumes it’s just some band using a gimmick to promote themselves as they often do. Unfortunately, when the record plays it’s bizarre sounds, it doesn’t trigger an uncontrollable urge to dance and take ecstasy, but flashbacks of Salem’s violent past.

Is Heidi going crazy… or has someone slipped acid in her drink at the afterparty? You decide.

But judging from the trailer, it looks a bit more demonic than that. The trailer hints at some seriously creepy horror, and as always, stylishly-evil lighting and set design. The male half of the Zombie team has always had an eye for the classic horror aesthetic with a contemporary twist. And given Zombie’s love of straight-up horror, we trust this one will be blessedly free of silly humor.

Thank goodness.

Once again, Zombie has tapped some classic actors of vintage TV and horror films for his casting: includes Bruce Davidson, Jeffrey Daniel Phillips, Ken Foree, Patricia Quinn, Dee Wallace, Maria Conchita Alonso, Judy Gleeson, Meg Foster, and Griffin Boice.

The film opens in limited release April 19.

And by the way, stop giving the guy flack for hiring his wife to star in his movies. What kind of jackass would he be if he didn’t?

Sherri Moon Zombie stars in the upcoming film “Lords of Salem” by hubby Rob. DUH.

'American Horror Story' cast promo video released

American Horror Story” producers for season two just keep cranking out more creepy promos — with the premiere set for October, how long can they keep up this barrage of videos and still images? If we’re lucky, right up to the season premiere scheduled for October 17 on FX.

The promo du jour is a new release where we finally get to see some of the cast members for the season, including Jessica Lange returning as the scariest, coolest, most awesome nun ever. You just know she’s going to sink her teeth into this role. I’m not even Catholic and she creeps me out in the stills and videos. The shorter teasers are still coming on pretty much a daily basis, but we love seeing the actors and actresses finally in character for the upcoming season in this clip.

In case you’ve been living on another planet, the second season of “American Horror Story” will be set in an asylum run by Lange, who returns from the first season. But this season will feature a whole new story and even the returning actors will be playing different characters in the new story, hence this series now being known as a miniseries.

Call it what you will, but if the first season was any indication, you can expect the creepiest, most original or you’ll find on either of the small screen or the big screen. Check out the video, but be forewarned — you may never listen to Doris Day the same again.

'The Black Dahlia Haunting' trailer released

The first trailer for the independent horror film “The Black Dahlia Haunting” has been released. The film, directed by Brandon Slagle, is set for premiere September 15 at the horror convention Scare-A-Con in Syracuse New York. Following the 6 pm screening, there will be a Q&A with Slagle, as well as stars Devanny Pinn, Britt Griffith, Noah Dahl and Alexia Iacono.

The film follows a young woman, Holly (Pinn), who comes to Los Angeles to learn more about the murders of her abusive father and stepmother by her younger brother Tyler (Dahl) who has been blind since childhood. She enlists the help of a psychiatrist assigned to treat Tyler (Griffith), who seems to have a special connection to a spirit Tyler claims speaks to him, Elizabeth Short – or as she’s now known, “The Black Dahlia.”

But this flower has nothing good in mind, and toys with those who have suffered in their lives.

Cast members’ former credits include Pinn in “Hold Your Breath”, Griffith in SyFy channel’s “Ghosthunters,” Dahl in “Bad Teacher,” and Iacono in “The Penny Dreadful Picture Show.”

'White Rave' teaser for 'American Horror Story'

Those crazy creative folks behind “American Horror Story” released yet another second season teaser this week, using the recurring white nun character. This time, our favorite creepy nun is crowd surfing… at a rave.

Alrighty.

You certainly can’t fault this team for not being able to think out of the box. Original ideas, stunning and disturbing imagery, technical expertise — why are these guys doing TV and not motion pictures? Oh wait, they’re not doing remakes, so Hollywood has no place for them these days.

It’s a sad note in the film industry when you now have to go to TV to be an original.

Oh well, enough preaching to the choir, just check out the raving nun in the latest “American Horror Story: Asylum” teaser.

Blue coat teaser for 'American Horror Story: Asylum'

I admit I’m late to the party for “American Horror Story,” having watched it via Amazon instant video to catch up for the first season, but with a cast that includes a legend like Jessica Lange, you know even before you watch this, this is horror taken seriously.

Thank goodness.

This show is now classified as a mini-series, as each season will have a completely different story and characters. This season the series is set in an asylum.

FX has been releasing tons of eye candy for the upcoming second season in the form of teaser trailers, and this one is the “blue coat” teaser. Of course, you don’t get to see any of the stars in this upcoming series in the teaser, but that’s okay — the full dose will be coming soon enough, loaded with guest stars form Chloe Sevigny to Adam Levine to Kelly Ripa’s husband.

That last one is a little weird, but hey, this show is keeping half of Hollywood employed with their never ending list of guest stars. And check out this creepy teaser, one of many to come.

Trailer for new horror comedy 'Grabbers'

If you’re a fan of the horror/comedy genre, there’s a new one on the horizon, straight out of Ireland. “Grabbers” debuted its new trailer this week, and it promises loads of monster slaughter and beer guzzling.

If you’re also a fan of the old British TV series “Coupling,” you might recognize a familiar face — Richard Coyle, who played Jeff on that series. That alone should make it worth checking out, even if a splash of comedy in your horror isn’t your usual cup of tea. While Coyle has gone on to roles in big Hollywood productions like “Prince of Persia” and Madonna’s “W.E.,” he stole the show on the BBC series.

The premise revolves around an alien invasion and the only way for humans to protect themselves from having their bodies taken over? Stay drunk. Does that scream “Irish cinema” or what?
