Here’s an oldie but goodie, from the mad genius of music herself, Kate Bush. “Experiment IV” is a bit on the obscure side, sadly. But I love the horror theme with that beautifully haunting music. Miss Kate sure knows how to weave a story and a song.
BTW, that wonderful instrumental part in the middle is cut off the single, so you only get it in the video. Much to my chagrin.
I love this video, which is oh-so-80s, in a good way. And creepy.

I have to confess I’m a bit embarrassed I didn’t start this weekly series with Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” the benchmark in horror-themed videos. Hey, it’s been a long time, you know? But this mini-movie stands the test of time due to great production, scary makeup and of course, the voice of Vincent Price, may he rest in peace.
I was going to say it was groundbreaking for its time, but actually, it’s pretty damn good by today’s standards. Am I the only who watches this and wants to see a parody by the cast of “The Walking Dead?” They could call it “The Dancing Dead.”
I always wondered… why does everyone stand there and watch someone make the full werewolf transformation before they run? The second you start growing your ears or sprouting claws out of your fingers… my ass is outta there!

I loved their hit “How You Like Me Now,” but hadn’t really followed up on any other music since then from The Heavy, till this little number with a spooky video. It’s like Tim Burton animation on acid, and while they could have gone with a non-horror theme, we’re glad they went the spooky route. This song just screams “put me in an episode of “Dexter!” or about a million other horror movies or tv shows.

I’m going to start a weekly column on Saturdays featuring one cool, horror-themed music video every week, and I had to kick it off with this classic psychobilly tune and video from Aussies Zombie Ghost Train. Alas, the band has disbanded.
Although short-lived, the band releases two albums, Glad Rags & Body Bags and Dealing the Death Card, as well as an EP, Monster Formal Wear. Since disbanding, bassist Captain Reckless and drummer Azzy T have formed Captain Reckless and the Lost Souls, but Reckless now plays guitar, which is a crying shame: I have never seen a faster bass player in my life, and still good.
The video for “R.I.P.”, directed and edited by vocalist/guitarist Stu Arkoff, is good ol’ schlockey horror fun, but I dare you not to get sucked in with this irresistible tune.
